The Artificial of the Real: Trcka - Weston - Newton    Published by Scalo, 1998    Hardbound with dustwrapper, Fine condition except for crease to the spine of the dustwrapper.    This sumptuous book features the work of three of the greatest photographic artists of this century. It is an interesting grouping of quite different artists, including the soft, atmospheric portraits of Tr cka; the crisp, sensual still lifes of Weston; and the stark nudes of Newton. The book is unified by the theme of photographic form, notably in portraiture and the human figure, as well as Weston's classic still lifes. Although technically a catalog for a 1998 German exhibition curiously titled 'The Artificial of the Real', the large-format, clothbound book is beautifully reproduced and reasonably priced, especially given the high production values. Exhibition catalogs often present artists in the freshest and most insightful light, and this book is no exception. It offers a rare opportunity to glimpse the work of three accomplished photographers and to gain some understanding of how their work is viewed today. Highly recommended. Domestic Landscapes: An Introduction Manual'     Self Published   Limited Edition of 400 numbered copies    Signed by Bert Teunissen.     NEW    The book is spiral bound with stiff card pages, each page has been cut in such away to take one picture, the book has pages to display 15 images. There are 20 pictures that come with the book, printed single sided onto sheets of paper which fit onto the stiff card pages. The idea is that you are then able to edit and arrange the images in any order you desire. Each image is approx 370mm x 300mm    The images have taken over a ten year period throughout Europe and Japan, and have been produced on large format using available light; in houses that were built pre WWII when architects were more aware of natural light and houses were built to make use of this natural commodity rather than relying on the electric light.    This winter work from Teunissen's 'Domestic Landscapes project has been simultaneously Exhibited in Amsterdam (Dec to Mar)and London (Dec to Jan). Her work combines techniques from documentary photography, reportage and advertising to make the viewer aware of the ideologies underlying the construction of cultural identities. She has exhibited widely and in major international institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; ICA, London; Museum of Photography, Tokyo and the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York. Her two short films Journey of No Return (1993) and The Third Woman (1991) have been screened internationally at festivals and museums. She has widely published articles and photo-essays in numerous international newspapers and magazines, including Third Text and Camera Austria. High Tide Wane Moon  Kazuumi Takahashi  Japanese artist Kazuumi Takahashi?s stunning first monograph, High Tide Wane Moon, explores the relationship between the moon and the ocean. The son of a fisherman, Takahashi grew up near the sea. The schedule of the tide influenced his daily planning, just as the moon in turn influenced the tides. In this large-format book, Takahashi presents 25 double-page spreads, each with a photograph of the moon on the left side, and a corresponding photograph of the ocean on the right. Every double page thus comprises a beautiful diptych in which the viewer is enveloped in water and sky. Collectively, the photographs pay homage to forces that have inspired our dreams, and influenced our ways of life, since the beginning of humankind. Takahashi?s work has been widely exhibited throughout Japan. We are pleased to make it available to an international audience with this publication. The signed edition includes a slip signed by the artist and glued into the inside front cover.\n\nTTP is a series of photographs made by Hayahisa Tomiyasu from the window of his former student apartment in the German city of Leipzig. From his south-facing view we see a 'tischtennisplatte' or ping pong table used for a plethora of purposes – including a sun bed, a laundry counter, a kids' climbing frame, an exercise site, a family lunch spot, a refuge from busy streets, among various other uses – except from table tennis.
