The Wick (Signed)

This is for a copy of The Wick possibly the rarest and most hard to come by Stephen Gill edition, it is many many years since i have seen one advertised. This is from my own personal collection opened only for these photographs to be taken and is a commission sale. The is a slight turning to the very edges of the print when if was placed in the sleeve.

This is contains a signed original photograph, flyer and printed Obi (bellyband) housed within an LP record obtained by Stephen at the Market in Hackney Wick. Every record is different as they were sourced from different sellers at the market, the quality of the record is not necessaryly playable but is a theme of repackaging, which Stephen revisits in different ways throughout his career.

This was sold to accompany Stephens first exhibition at the Photographers Gallery, Great Newport Street, London.

In his own words Stephen recalls, "I was due to have a solo exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery back then on Great Newport St. I was very keen to make some sort of publication at the time and did not have the funds to make an actual book so I decided to source records from the market and and insert a print in each one. The print I remember was of plastic coated copper electrical wires I believe that aligned with my thoughts around commodity, precious metals the birth of wireless power and wireless audio and waste vs value etc." Stephen Gill, 2023.
